The Jerry Springer Show — April 1993 The well-remembered episode from Jerry’s second season (and first in national syndication) profiling the exploits of three Hollywood-area homeless teens. The guest with the most notoriety prior to this show’s taping was “Tweaky Dave” (whose real name has been commonly reported to be David Besozzi, but some claim it to have been David Neal Miller), who had been living on the streets of Hollywood since age 9. His story of escaping a violent father, surviving without a home from such a young age and his subsequent diagnosis with Leukemia, caught the attention of local filmmakers, who featured him in a documentary geared toward educating teens. Soon after, Tweaky Dave caught the awarenesss of Jerry Springer, and first appeared as a guest in the freshman season of his talk show. Jerry continued contact with Dave, featuring him on his show twice more (in this 1993 episode, and in February 1994) until Dave’s death in either 1995 or ’96. Introduced in this episode are homeless teens Chase, aka “Chap”, and Christina. Both are doing very well nowadays.
